THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MANAGEMENT COMPANY ASK YOU TO PLEASE CHECK BACK TO WEBSITE FOR UPDATES. WE ARE WORKING ON YOUR BEHALF AND WILL UPDATE THE WEBSITE TO KEEP YOU INFORMED.
Update as if 11-18
The board will be holding a meeting on 11/22 at 10AM to update owners on where things stand in regard to Hurricane's Ian and Nicole. See agenda in the files page.
Update as of 11/13 as of 2PM
The board has been informed that the building has been deemed safe. Residents are now allowed to return to their properties. The gas has been restored and the elevators are working.
Update as of 11/12 at noon
Board visited with structural engineer today. Waiting for receipt of his assessment, hopefully yet today. See photos below of seawall collapse near pool. Until we receive report and City of Daytona Beach Shores reviews and approves lifting building evacuation orders, the building is still listed as unsafe per their Chief Building Official. Please be advised that anyone who enters does so it their own risk. We have been advised emergency services will not enter, elevator service cannot be restored and gas service can not be restored until the City of Daytona Beach rescinds building evacuation orders.
We are cautiously optimistic but must follow the law in addressing this issue. Please continue to stay safe and be patient as we meet this challenge.
Update as of 11/12
The board visited yesterday. The building continues to have signs posted by the City of Daytona Beach Shores indicating they have determined the building unsafe. They also have now put the requirement on the condo association to retain a structural engineer to complete a determination that the building is safe.
We want you to know we are working diligently to meet all requirements. We met with a seawall contractor yesterday and are awaiting the quote. We are trying to get additional quotes, but as you can imagine, it has been hard to get people to return calls. But we are continuing to try. Initial indications are that the collapse of the seawall near the pool has not impacted the structural integrity of the building. The pool, itself, actually remains intact and is full.
We are meeting with a structural engineer today, in efforts to getting the structural assessment completed, building certified and documentation to the city for their approval to allow re-entry.
We are working continuously on your behalf and want to reassure you we are doing all that we can to manage this situation. Check back for further updates.
Please limit attempts to contact our board members or property management company individually, as we are working on all fronts and feel it is in everyone's best interest if we communicate facts as they unfold to all owners/tenants on a timely basis. Thanks for your patience and understanding during a very difficult and stressful time.
Update as of 11/10
Evacuations were ordered 11/10 after inspections found significant damage that could lead to loss of life. In the morning , a section of our seawall near the pool was compromised.
When residents will be allowed to return remains unclear as of early Thursday afternoon. Residents will not be allowed to return to their homes until Friday at the earliest. We caution the wait could be even longer than that due to the significant number of buildings also evacuated due to concerns.
Residents cannot come back until Chief Building Official Steve Edmunds reinspects the building and deems it safe.
